Distracted driving is a serious threat to Texas roads. The Impact Texas Drivers (ITD) program is designed to educate drivers about the risks and consequences of distracted driving, ultimately saving lives. The program features real-life stories highlighting the devastating impact of distracted driving.
The Impact Texas Driver certificate must be presented before the administration of the driving skills test.
Impact Texas Teen Drivers (ITTD): This 2-hour video is required for:
- Drivers aged 15-17 taking an approved parent-taught or minor driver education course.
Impact Texas Adult Drivers (ITAD): This 1-hour video is required for:
- Drivers aged 18-24 who are required to complete an adult driver education course or
- Drivers 25 years or older (driver education is recommended but not required)
Steps to Complete the ITD program:
-
Choose the correct program (ITTD or ITAD) based on your age and driver education requirements.
-
Complete the ITD program online. The certificate is valid for 90 days.
-
Print your certificate of completion.
-
Bring your certificate to your driving skills test appointment. You cannot take the test without it.
Important Notes:
- The ITD program must be completed after the behind the wheel driver education requirements and prior to taking the driving skills test.
- The ITD programs do not replace the distracted driving module in the 32-hour teen driver education course or the 6-hour adult driver education course.
- Third-Party Skills Testing also required ITD program completion based on your age.
