    This month, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) recognizes the 15-year anniversary of its lifesaving Interdiction for the Protection of Children (IPC) program. Launched by DPS in April 2009, the IPC program trains front-line officers to recognize indicators that a child may be a victim, at-risk of victimization or missing and identify individuals who pose a high-risk threat to a child.

    AUSTIN – The Texas Public Safety Commission (PSC), along with Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Director Steven McCraw, recognized the heroic actions of several Texans at the Public Safety Commission meeting at DPS Headquarters in Austin. Commissioners and Director McCraw presented one Purple Heart, seven Lifesaving Awards and one Unit Citation to members of DPS.

    The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) announces three of Texas’ 10 Most Wanted offenders are back in custody following their recent arrests. Authorities arrested Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitives Juan Huerta and Jesse Vega on March 26 and April 3, respectively. Texas 10 Most Wanted Sex Offender Hayden Abel III was arrested on April 2, and a Texas Crime Stoppers reward will be paid in his arrest.

    Pursuant to Title 49, Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), Part 390.23 and Chapter 644 of the Texas Transportation Code, Colonel Steven C. McCraw, Director of the Texas Department of Public Safety, has declared a local emergency exists which justifies certain exemptions from Parts 390 through 399 of Title 49 (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations). Such emergency declaration is in response to the solar eclipse and related traffic and possible supply chain shortages in the State of Texas.

    AUSTIN – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) has added Jesse Vega to the Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitives list and Marcos Alonzo to the Texas 10 Most Wanted Sex Offenders list. Texas Crime Stoppers is now offering a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to Vega’s arrest and a cash reward of up to $3,000 for information leading to Alonzo’s arrest. All tips are guaranteed to be anonymous.
