Columbus JOHNSON, a Texas 10 Most Wanted Sex Offender, was arrested on September 8, 2022, in Rosenberg, Texas. Working off investigative information, members of the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Fugitive Task Force, Rosenberg Police Department officers, and DPS Special Agents assigned to the Texas Anti-Gang (TAG) Center in Houston, arrested JOHNSON at a location in Rosenberg.In 1982, JOHNSON was convicted of Sexual Assault of a Child after an incident involving an 11-year-old girl. He was sentenced to 10 years of confinement. In 1992, he was convicted of Murder and received a life sentence, but was released on parole in 2013.JOHNSON had been wanted since January 31, 2022, after the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles issued a warrant for his arrest for Parole Violation. Additionally, on March 15, 2022, the Wharton County Sheriff’s Office issued a warrant for his arrest for Failure to Register as a Sex Offender.JOHNSON’s arrest was not from tip information received through Texas Crime Stoppers, so no reward will be paid.
