Camilo RODRIGUEZ was detained on January 30, 2021, by Mexican Government Officials in Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico, as the result of a fugitive investigation conducted by the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) Mexico Foreign Field Office (MFFO), and members of the USMS Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Fugitive Task Force, including DPS Special Agents. Law enforcement authorities in Wharton County assisted in the investigation. In 2010, RODRIGUEZ was convicted in Wharton County of Agg. Sexual Assault of a Child following an incident involving a 13-year-old girl. He was subsequently sentenced to five years in TDCJ prison. In July 2019, the Wharton County Sheriff’s Office issued warrants for RODRIGUEZ’s arrest for Sexual Assault of a Child, Failure to Register as a Sex Offender, Assault/Family Violence, Burglary of a Habitation, and Criminal Mischief. Since August 2019, additional warrants had been issued by the El Campo Police Department for RODRIGUEZ’s arrest for Sexual Assault of a Child and Failure to Register as a Sex Offender. RODRIGUEZ was extradited back to Texas and booked into the Wharton County Jail on February 11, 2021. The arrest was not from tip information received through Texas Crime Stoppers, so no reward will be paid.
