If you need to obtain a replacement without changing any information on the front of the card, you may use the Online Card Replacement feature, provided you have the following information:
- Your driver license or identification card number,
- Your date of birth,
- The last four digits of your social security number, and
- The audit number from your most recently issued card. (For security reasons, DPS cannot provide your audit number).
The audit number may be found here on your driver license or identification card.
If your card has been lost, stolen or destroyed, and you do not have the information listed above, visit Driver License Services – Appointments to schedule an appointment at your local driver license office.
If you are currently out of the state, please visit Out-of-State Renewal or Replacement for instructions on replacing your driver license or identification card.
Non-US citizens are eligible for Online Card Replacement but are not eligible for online renewal.
Driver License Office Visit
- Visit Driver License Services – Appointments to schedule an appointment at your local driver license office.
- Complete the application, available online or at the office
- Provide the following documentation to the license and permit specialist:
- Application replacement, and
- Proof of Identity (Only one primary, secondary, or supporting document is required)
- If you have not previously provided the following documentation, you will also need to present:
- Proof of U.S. Citizenship or Lawful Presence (if not a U.S. Citizen)
- Social Security Number.
- Provide your Biometric Information (signature and thumbprints)
- Have your picture taken.
- Pay the application fee.
Report Stolen Cards
If your DL or ID Card is stolen and has been used fraudulently, file a police report to create a record of the theft. Visit Driver License Services – Appointments to schedule an appointment to bring a copy of the report to the driver license office. They will evaluate your situation to determine if issuing a new number is necessary to protect you.
