The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is asking for the public’s help in solving the April 13, 2016, attempted murder of Harris County Precinct 7 Deputy Constable Alden Clopton in Houston. As part of the Office of the Governor and Texas Crime Stopper’s Fallen Hero Reward – Texas Remembers program, a reward of up to $10,000 for information that results in this case being solved or leads to the arrest of those responsible for the crime. In conjunction with Texas Crime Stoppers, Crime Stoppers of Houston also is offering a reward up to $10,000 through its Fallen Hero Project. All tips are guaranteed to be anonymous.
At approximately 11:17 p.m. on April 13, 2016, Clopton was shot several times while assisting a fellow deputy in the 3100 block of Alabama Street in Houston. According to the investigation, an unknown suspect approached Clopton from behind and shot him in the back without warning and then fled the scene on foot. Clopton continues to recover from his injuries.
