Officer Heard pulled me over for exceeding the posted speed limit on I-40. Officer Heard was professional during the entire process. After I stated that I was not required to answer his questions, Officer Heard turned to chatting about the weather while he processed my ticket. I appreciate that his manner never changed and that he did not appear irritated that I asserted my rights. Rather, he was calm and polite. Officer Heard made a difficult situation as smooth as could be and he sets a high standard for the Texas Highway Patrol in Wheeler County. Given the current climate around policing in the U.S. and that we really only ever talk about the negative aspects of law enforcement, I wanted to share a positive experience that I hope you will also share with Officer Heard and his supervisors.
