I was stopped for speeding on 3-31-2021 in Cottle County. I'm writing this because this type of encounter between a black man and a white officer will not make the news. I want to acknowledge the courtesy and the professionalism demonstrated to me by this highway patrol officer. Under the circumstances he would have been well within his right to apply the full extent of the speeding laws of your great state. However he took the time to ask me a few questions, listened to my explanation (no excuse). He did not play judge and jury. I was never made to feel threatened, maligned, or intimidated by this officer on this open road literally in the middle of no-where. It's unfortunate that all such encounters don't go as well and never make headlines but they should. Thanks to officers like this.
