While driving on US Highway 96, north of Jasper, I passed Officer Bennet's vehicle and he stopped me. He explained that I was driving in the left lane while I was not passing. I told him that I knew the law, but has simply not thought about it. I can honestly say that I have never met a trooper who was more polite or courteous than Trooper Bennett! I know that too often you probably hear a lot of complaints, so I wanted to tell you that as my grandson said, when we pulled away, "Papaw, if every officer or trooper was like him, you would never read anything bad about them!" Please relay my compliments to Trooper Bennett. He is an outstanding representative of the DPS and of our state!
