I was late for an appointment and clearly traveling faster than the posted speed limit and knew it. Trooper Rucker was pleasant and professional, looked me in the eyes and related to me as a fellow human being. I admitted that I was speeding and was ready for my ticket, but was issued a warning along with the statement, "We'll get through this together". When Trooper Rucker said that to me I believe that he meant it very sincerely and it was meaningful to me. It happened to be on Election Day, too. Most people only take the time to write when their issue is a complaint. I wanted to make sure to get something positive is said to reflect his inclusion of humanity into a difficult job during a time when the misguided are calling for defunding law enforcement. Trooper Rucker, his family and all of Texas DPS have my best wishes for health and safety. Together, we will all get through this.
