Wednesday Morning Appointments Cancelled at Driver License Offices Statewide

AUSTIN – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is cancelling all driver license appointments for the morning of Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2023, between 7:30 and noon due to the ongoing upgrade of the driver license system. The upgrade is impacting all driver license services including renewing or replacing a driver license or identification card, obtaining a driver record and verifying eligibility.

DPS Awards Dedication to Mission and Service at August PSC Meeting

AUSTIN – The Texas Public Safety Commission (PSC), along with Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Director Steven McCraw, presented one Director’s Citation, two Lifesaving Awards and two Unit Citations at the PSC meeting on Thursday, Aug. 24, at DPS Headquarters in Austin.

DPS Graduates 172nd Recruit Class

AUSTIN – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) commissioned 86 new Texas Highway Patrol Troopers from recruit class A-2023 during a graduation ceremony on Friday, Aug. 25.

DPS Rescues Child from Suspected Stash House (West Texas Region)

EL PASO - Earlier this month, Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Criminal Investigations Division (CID) Special Agents along with Texas Highway Patrol Troopers and the El Paso and New Mexico United States Border Patrol Anti-Smuggling Units discovered a suspected stash house on the west side of El Paso, and a 13-year-old child locked in one of the bedrooms. Once agents entered the house, they observed a make-shift door with a lock in the main hallway and found each room door also had coded locks. Further investigation determined the house was being utilized for sex trafficking and the trafficking of drugs, including fentanyl and methamphetamine.
