What is the Texas DPS Leadership Development Model?
Comprehensive leadership & professional development is not a single, or simple, linear progression (i.e., Not A + B + C = D). Rather, it is an ongoing and dynamic process of personal and professional development where each leadership journey is part of a larger ecosystem of options, and pathways, contextualized to individuals, teams, and units. Therefore, every member of the DPS team is a leader at their own unique point in the journey, and we are committed to amplifying their leadership influence in every context.
We believe leadership development is a lifelong journey, and we believe leaders are learners, which means the best learners are often the best leaders. Therefore, we intentionally seek to lead in four arenas:

Therefore, we lead in four arenas and three environments.
We lead at work, at home, and in our communities.
Texas DPS General Orders 2, 9, & 10:
(2) To practice, at all times, the motto of the departments: "Courtesy, Service, Protection."
(9) To make suggestions to improve department operations, policies, and services.
(10) To conduct myself, on and off duty, in a manner that merits the voluntary praise of those with whom I come in contact, so that my actions reflect well upon myself, the department, and the Sate of Texas.
