I was at the Austin Northwest DLO with an appointment to get my first Texas driver license as a new transplant from Illinois. While at the counter, just beginning the process, the computer system for the entire state of Texas crashed. We were offered the opportunity to return the following day, as they did not know how long the system would be down. The staff handled themselves with grace, patience and professionalism as they were dealing with some very unhappy customers. They worked diligently and once the system was up (about an hour later) they moved forward with speed and efficiency. It is obvious that the managers in this facility have trained their staff well and have procedures in place for the unexpected. I walked out of that facility a bit later than I anticipated, but with a new license in my hand and a smile on my face.
