Susan Hinojosa

I called the Capitol location and a female identified herself as Sue. I told her that my mom received a letter from DPS that said my mom needed to renew her driver license and to get the ‘Star’ as required by law. Sue told me that DPS requires all customers to schedule an appointment online. I told Sue my mom does not have a computer or a portable electronic device to start, much less to complete the process. Sue asked for my mom’s name and date of birth. I gave the personal identifying information. She asked me if my mom can come in at 11:00 am. I told her we will be there. We arrived at the office and met with Sue. My mom gave Sue the documents required and she began the process. Sue explained each step to my mom. When it came to placing her thumbs on the glass plate, my mom was having difficulty keeping her thumbs straight on the plate. Sue told my mom, “that’s alright honey, try again.” Finally, on the third attempt, my mom’s thumbprints were accepted. My mom completed the process and we left the office. My mom told me “Sue was so nice and patient with me.” From the time I spoke with Sue over the phone and in person, she was no less than professional. She was open minded and used good common sense by understanding that my mom could not make an appointment online and spoke to her kindly during the office visit. She is definitely an asset to the department.
