Highway Patrolman Edward Bryan Wheeler
January 8, 1930 - April 1, 1934
Patrolmen Wheeler was shot to death near Grapevine on Easter Sunday, April 1, 1934 by the infamous criminals Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow. He stopped his motorcycle near Parker and Barrow's car, thinking a motorist needed assistance. When he approached, he was shot. He began his career with the agency on January 8, 1930, and was stationed at Fort Worth.
