Temporary Closure Notice: Houston Gessner DL Office
HOUSTON – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) wants the public to be aware of a temporary closure of the Houston Gessner Driver License (DL) Office. The office will be closed Friday, Jan. 18, through Monday, Jan. 21,* with the office resuming normal hours on Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2019. The closure is due to electrical work that needs to be completed.
As a reminder, the majority of Texans are eligible to conduct their transaction online, by phone or by mail, which would allow them to skip the trip to a DL office altogether. Prior to visiting a DL to the office, call 1-866-DL-RENEW (1-866-357-3639) or check online to determine if your transaction — whether the renewal of a Texas DL or identification (ID) card or an address change — can actually be handled online, by phone or by mail. By doing so, eligible customers can skip the trip to a DL office altogether.
Should you need to conduct your transaction in person at a DL office, you can search online for a DL office near you. Additional information about all of DPS' online services can be found on our website.
*Please note: Monday, Jan. 21, is a state holiday in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
