AUSTIN – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Texas Division of Emergency Management is welcoming public and private sector emergency management officials to San Antonio this week to exchange ideas and discuss best practices at the 2015 Texas Emergency Management Conference. The annual conference runs through May 15, at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center.

“Emergencies that threaten public safety and homeland security can happen anywhere, at any time and run the gamut from severe weather and natural disasters to manmade disasters, industrial accidents and disease outbreaks,” said DPS Director Steven McCraw. “The unpredictable nature of such events underscores the vital need for extensive emergency planning, and this conference provides an optimal opportunity for local, state, tribal and federal organizations and officials to stay up-to-date on best practices and share ideas essential for effective emergency management.”
