AUSTIN – It is with great sadness the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) announces the death of a Highway Patrol Trooper following a shooting incident in Limestone County.

AUSTIN – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is seeking information in the 2001 homicide of James Charles “Jimmy” Schuessler. An increased reward of up to $6,000 is being offered for information that leads to the arrest of those responsible if the tip is received before the next featured Texas Rangers cold case is announced.

As part of Operation Lone Star and under the direction of Governor Abbott, DPS continues its presence, including air, ground, marine and tactical security assets, along the border to combat the smuggling of people and drugs into Texas.

AUSTIN – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is stepping up enforcement efforts as traffic picks up for spring break. DPS Texas Highway Patrol Troopers will increase traffic enforcement as part of Operation CARE (Crash Awareness and Reduction Effort) from March 13 through March 21, including St. Patrick’s Day.

EL PASO – On Feb. 24 and 25, 2021, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Criminal Investigations Division (CID), in conjunction with Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), conducted an operation targeting those involved in the sexual exploitation of children and adults in El Paso, Texas.
