LAREDO – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) seized 16 pounds of cocaine and 14 pounds of heroin during a routine traffic stop on Tuesday, July 21, in Webb County.
At approximately 11:40 am, a DPS trooper stopped a 2010 Ford pickup traveling north on Interstate Highway 35 near mile marker 22, for a traffic violation. After a vehicle search, the Trooper discovered nine taped–wrapped bundles of cocaine and heroin concealed underneath a toolbox that was located on the bed of the pickup. The cocaine and heroin had a combined estimated street value of $347,800.
The driver, Vicent Castro, 31, was arrested and charged with felony possession of controlled substance, and was booked into the Webb County Jail. DPS Criminal Investigation Division is further investigating this case.
