Highway Patrol Trooper Jeffrey Don Nichols

Trooper Nichols died in the line of duty as a result of a one-vehicle traffic crash on Saturday in Lamar County. Trooper Nichols joined DPS in August of 2011 and was stationed in Paris. He is survived by his parents, sister and brother. He is the 233rd DPS officer to die in the line of duty since 1835.
