In 2015, the Texas Ranger Unsolved Crimes (Cold Case) Investigation Program initiated an investigation into this case. A Texas Ranger, specializing in cold cases, joined the investigation with White Settlement PD. In August 2016, Donald Wright was arrested for this offense and subsequently indicted.
