Cesar Rene ORTIZ, a Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitive affiliated with the Texas Chicano Brotherhood gang, was captured on August 13, 2019, in Edinburg, Texas.Working off investigative information, DPS Special Agents located and apprehended ORTIZ at a residence on the north side of Edinburg. Texas Highway Patrol (THP) and the Edinburg Police Department provided assistance in the apprehension.ORTIZ is a violent offender with a history of aggravated assault, burglary, weapon, and drug charges. In 2016, he was convicted in Hidalgo County of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. He was released on parole from TDCJ in November 2018.ORTIZ had been wanted since March 2019, after the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles issued a warrant for ORTIZ’s arrest for Parole Violation (Original Offense: Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon).The arrest was not from tip information received through Texas Crime Stoppers, so no reward will be paid.
