CAPTURE DETAILS: Alfredo RANGEL, added to the Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitive list on October 16, 2014, was taken into custody in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico on November 20, 2014. U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) met Mexican Law Enforcement authorities at the Gateway to the Americas Bridge in Laredo, Texas, where RANGEL was turned over to the custody of U.S. authorites.

In 2000, RANGEL and two other accomplices were involved in a violent assault on a Texas DPS state trooper during a traffic stop that occurred near Cotulla, Texas. The trooper's service weapon was taken and the trooper suffered serious injuries. RANGEL received a 15-year sentence in TDCJ prison.

In August 2014, RANGEL and two accomplices were involved in an armed robbery at a local casino in Laredo, Texas. The Laredo Police Department subsequently issued warrants for RANGEL's arrest for Larceny and Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity. RANGEL was also wanted for Parole Violation.

The arrest was the result of tip information received and a reward will be paid.
